Biography
Bill Farren is a lifelong resident of Saint John and is the son of the late Edward A. and Margaret N. Farren. He is a West Saint John resident and a longstanding employee at Moosehead Breweries.
Bill is also a lifelong participant in the community based on his firm belief in volunteerism and giving back to the community. His community involvements include:
- Founding Member, West Side Food Bank Boosters.
- Parish Committee Member, Assumption Church.
- Committee Member, Friends of St. Joseph’s.
- Member, Board of Trustees, W. Frank Hatheway Trust Endowment Fund.
- Member, Board of Directors, Lily Lake Pavilion.
- Former Chair, Parent Advisory Committee, St. Vincent’s High School.
- Former Vice-Chair, Saint John Police Commission.
- Former Chair, Establishment of Community Policing in Saint John.
- Former Member, Board of Directors, United Way of Greater Saint John.
- Former Member, Board of Directors, New Brunswick Conservation Council.
- Former Member, Premier’s Round Table on Sustainable Development.
Specific endeavours which Bill set out on with the intention of preparing himself for service on Common Council include:
- Member, 2000, Governor General of Canada’s Study Tour, Building Stronger Communities and Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders.
- Member, Planning Committee, 2004, Governor General of Canada’s Study Tour, Leadership and Diversity

- Portfolio on trade access.

Bill Farren and his wife, Gerri, live on Edgehill Row in West Saint John and have family. Bill’s relaxation and lifelong passion is salmon fishing.
